PKRA Tour Stop Germany - It's a wrap!
That event was one hell of a ride! First it started off with nearly no wind at all for 8 days straight. Then finally on the last weekend, a storm came up and delivered winds up to 47 knots.
The whole single elimination was held in those tough conditions while even Best extremist Ruben Lenten showed up to watch his team mates and to loop his Extract kite.
Sunday the wind changed to side offshore, still being quite gusty. In the doubles, Alex Neto came up against his team mate Youri Zoon, who was incredibly motivated, coming back to the tour after his shoulder injury he incurred at the same event last year. Youri won against Alex but got unlucky in the next heat. He missed a handle pass and took the hardest wipe out of the event. Being stunned from the impact it was up to Aaron Hadlow to beat Liam Whaley - a well deserved first place for Aaron in the mans final.
In the women heats it was all about Gisela Pulido against Karolina Winkowska. Gisela had the second place in the singles, meaning she had to beat Karolina twice to win the doubles. After Gisela won the first heat, the tension was unbelievable. The whole beach was packed with crowds cheering, when Gisela and Karolina went in the water for one last time. Both landed trick after trick and no one on the beach was able to tell who won. In the end the ruling of the judges was in slight favor of Karolina.
Being the world's largest kitesurfing event, there was not only action on the water but also at the test center and the booth we set up. The absolute highlight was the party we had on Saturday, though. Together with our partner Kite Worldwide we organised some drinks and - of course - got Ruben Lenten to DJ. The storm on the Best tent was crazy with a large line of people waiting to get in. Around three AM at the point where guests - we tell no names - started dancing on the bar in their underwear, the event security showed up and shut us down.
Thanks to everybody who helped making this event such an success and to everybody who stopped by to check out our new 2015 gear.
