The Mille Lacs Crossing is a very fun Snowkite endurance race. Not only is it a fun challenge but also one of the premiere Snowkite endurance races - the only one of its kind in Minnesota. It is supported by a whole bunch of great sponsors such as Red Bull.
The Mille Lacs Crossing really comes to life on the big Mille Lacs lake which freezes in winter time. For the main event the competitors race over the 14 mile course, straight over the lake which is blanketed with snow in various layers and textures crossing ice heaves with open water and ice formations that will eat you up or sometimes make an excellent kicker for boosting. It is a fun course and challenging at the same time. 7 miles out and 7 miles back from the outer mark to reach back to the gate for a timed finish. The time is measured with a chip system. I went out on my Kahoona and managed to score the first place!

Racing is only one part of the event though. There is also a huge snowkite party! Ever heard of craft beer? Well Minnesota provides...
This event is sponsored by two craft brewing companies that have their heart in the sport of snowkiting and are out there riding and helping host this very fun event. There is a terrain park for a freeride session next to the village for watching while having a brew in the hand. It's a great event for socializing, food and kite games.
