Battle For the Bay Wrap Up
I had heard great things about this event so I thought it was time to go check it out for myself. I filled my VW California van up with my quiver of TS’s kites and off we headed for the ferry!
The event was held just a 10min drive away from the ferry port. We arrived just in time for a great welcoming party at the Pure Magic kite shop. I already felt right at home in Ireland. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming and really fired up for the event.
The first day of the event was a windy one so the World Kite Boarder Cross race took place. This was my first time competing in Boarder Cross. I loved the concept of jumping over inflatable buoys as fast as you can, your adrenalin is really going. I was super powered on my 15m TS! I won all my heats and won the World Kite Boarder Cross overall for the ladies. I was really stoked on that and fellow team mate Lewis Crathern came 2nd in men’s race. It was a great day and everyone partied hard that evening celebrating the first days success.
The next day was a beautiful hot sunny one. There was not a breath of wind which was prefect for the other disciplines of the event. SUP and Wakeboarding. Lots was happening on the beach, the french guys from Pure Magic were keeping everyone well entertained on stage, running Zumba competitions and all sorts of fun things, the atmosphere was buzzing. They really organised a fantastic event in Dublin, Ireland.
Big thanks to all the guys at Pure Magic, Best Kiteboarding, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Chiemsee & Prolimit.
