Director of Operations, Florida

Best Kiteboarding is the leading supplier of kites, accessories and apparel for the rapidly growing action sport of kiteboarding. The company is expanding to help manage rapid growth of its complex multinational operations.

Best is looking to hire a Director of Operations who would have day-to-day responsibility running the operations and administration of Best’s operational headquarters in Delray Beach, FL. This involves:

  • Leading day-to-day operational initiatives and ongoing operational excellence for import and export operations, multi-modal transportation, and distribution activities.
  • Managing shipping and receiving processes, including shipping reconciliation, tracking, and trouble shooting.
  • Working with Best’s partner logistics companies to streamline global supply chain.
  • Driving effective global logistics operations by interfacing with multi-site Customer Service, Purchasing, Product Management, and Sales teams.
  • Managing the process flow and customer service areas of the Operations team, looking for efficiencies and developing processes for improved customer service and business opportunity.
  • Liaising with local warehouse managers to accurately track real-time inventory levels in worldwide distribution centers.
  • Ensuring import and export compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Defining operational performance metrics, and reporting on actual versus target results routinely.
  • Maintaining and updating inventory SKUs in corporate ERP software systems
  • Overseeing local facilities maintenance and office management.
  • Assisting other local operational activities – which may include vendor relationship management through our Purchasing department, or problem solving support through our Order Processing/Customer Service/Warranty teams.
  • Supporting COO with business analysis projects such as international pricing, operations strategy, warranty registration, and other projects as assigned.

The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer, and will be based in Delray Beach, FL.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in managing complex operations, shipping, logistics, and customer service within a consumer product company.
  • Proficient knowledge, understanding, and leadership for international trade and customs issues.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems (Netsuite strongly preferred) and shipping processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Superior interpersonal and problem solving skills to help lead a dynamic local team.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative business analysis skills.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Can do, hands-on, entrepreneurial attitude. Must be a self-starter.
  • Position requires willingness to work a flexible and highly rigorous schedule.
  • Interest in actions sports and sports consumer goods a plus, though not required.
