One of the U.S. Virgin Islands, a diamond in the rough and the perfect kiteboarding destination.Only half an hour flight from Puerto Rico, or two hours and forty-five minutes from Miami, St. Croix is in a great central location. The island is 25 miles long by 7 miles wide, stretching from east to west, giving it the perfect layout for kiteboarding. With miles of picturesque beaches and clear lagoons, St. Croix is an awesome vacation destination.

The WindOur main winds are the trade winds that run from the east-northeast or east-southeast. The best months for kiteboarding in St. Croix are November through March, with December and January being the strongest months, and then June through August, which have the most consistent winds. Wind speed average is between 15 to 20 knots. Although the water is warm year round, you might need a shorty in the winter. We have different locations to ride, on both sides of the island, so we always have the perfect spot with side-shore winds to teach and ride.

Our school is a small operation and our instructors are PASA certified. Kite St. Croix prides itself on one-on-one teaching and we use a chase boat and helmet radios in all of our classes for additional safety.Our success rate in getting people riding in three days is 99%.

We offer beginner classes and a three half-day package that includes a down winder from the school. Intermediate classes are offered to improve your upwind skills, turning and jumping. We also offer advanced classes to improve your tricks, from the basic tricks to handle passes.Most of our clients end up coming back to St. Croix every year. We have a special package deal with the Divi Carina Bay Resort, a beautiful resort on the water just minutes from our school.If you come as a group, St Croix offers a great selection of villa rentals, and the rates are very reasonable during the off season (summer months).

You will need to rent a car since there are no hotels located right at the kiteboarding spots.Our island has many other treasures to offer. For the adventurous, St. Croix is one of the best diving destinations in the Caribbean and also offers horse back riding, gambling, fishing and hiking. For those of you seeking a more relaxing experience, there lots of great places to go shopping, sight seeing with lots of beautiful historical landmarks and towns, some of the best dining in the Caribbean or you can spend your days chilling by the pool or the ocean.Bill Kraft is the owner of Kite St. Croix.
