Best Schools Premier Destination: Kite St. Croix
St. CroixCome and discover the lesser known of the Caribbean Islands, St. Croix. One of the U.S. Virgin Islands, a diamond in the rough and the perfect kiteboarding destination.Only half an hour flight from Puerto Rico, or two hours and forty-five minutes from Miami, St. Croix is in a great central location. The island is 25 miles long by 7 miles wide, stretching from east to west, giving it the perfect layout for kiteboarding. With miles of picturesque beaches and clear lagoons, St. Croix is an awesome vacation destination.
Kite St. Croix: LocationKite St. Croix is located on the northeast end of the island.
The WindOur main winds are the trade winds that run from the east-northeast or east-southeast. The best months for kiteboarding in St. Croix are November through March, with December and January being the strongest months, and then June through August, which have the most consistent winds. Wind speed average is between 15 to 20 knots. Although the water is warm year round, you might need a shorty in the winter. We have different locations to ride, on both sides of the island, so we always have the perfect spot with side-shore winds to teach and ride.
