Best Kiteboarding signs International Pro Landboarder Alex Brown
Posted October 8th 2006
With the Waroo range of kites already an established feature within the landboarding and Kite-buggy scenes BestKiteboarding is proud to announce the latest addition to its international roster of professional team riders, Alex Brown, 2006 NABX champion and MBS sponsored Pro rider.
Alex, a long established fixture of the UK landboarding scene said "I'm looking forward to being able to bring landboarding to a much wider international audience through BestKiteboarding. Having flown all the 07 range at the recent dealer meeting and seeing how organised they are as a company there is no one I'd rather be with."
With a huge potential audience in the US, landboarding is sure to get riders fired for kite sports, all you need is one kite and a board and you are ready, no need to head to the beach and no need to wait for the snow to fall, it's simply the fastest way to get moving with a kite and you can try it on any terrain.
Marketing Director of BestKiteboarding Simon Clark quoted, "Having a rider of Alex's calibre and creativity on the team will help us to break landboarding in the US. We are geared up to invest heavily in promoting the sport and helping to drive its future development. Alex is the best known landboarder in the UK and is incredibly high profile; it's a great opportunity for us both."
Alex is already planning his assault on the emerging US market, he's booked onto the RV-tour this year and will be demoing landboarding across the US before heading to Nevada and shooting the second part of his landboarding instructional series ‘Drill.'
While he was testing the 07 product line at the recent dealer meeting in Fuerteventura he found time to answer a few questions.
What do you do?
I ride my kites on the land, with a mountain board. It's a great crossover for water or snow, and is so easy to get involved in, all you need is one kite and a board.
Where do you see kite boarding going in 2 years?
I think more people will try out things like ramps or sliders, flat land is where you start but taking it out to terrain is the ultimate goal, and there is a whole load of things you can do on natural terrain, we haven't really started pushing the boundaries yet.
UK or USA?
The UK has a more developed market, with events and riders. landboarding is an established feature of the UK kiting scene. The USA has more potential, with a wider range of locations to ride, there's so much free space out there I can't believe landboarding isn't huge already. There are so many places I want to ride in the US, I can't wait.
What do you do when not riding?
At the minute I'm looking at ways of popularising the sport, so I'm focussed towards video production, getting landboarding in people's faces. The more they see of it the more people are going to go out and try it. Providing great quality instructional DVD content is my main priority right now, but once that's out of the way it's going to be time to get radical and take the sport to the next level.
Why did you choose BestKiteboarding?
That's simple, they are the only kite company who can bring it all together, landboarding, kitesurfing and snow-kiting, the Best Girls might have influenced my decision a small amount but it was the 07 Waroo that sealed the deal, it was just so stable and easy to ride I felt like I'd been riding it all season.
